My Journey As A Semicolon Native
It took me five years, but I finally found the answer...
Before now, I used to wonder why people choose to work in tech. But then I started reading and hearing about how rewarding software engineering can be.
I started listening to podcasts where people shared their stories and experiences in the field. They talked about being true to themselves, working with urgency, and the impact they were making. It took me five years, but I finally found the answer.
Recently, I happened to be a student of Software engineering at Semicolon. This experience has opened my eyes to many aspects of software engineering...
As a software engineer, my main job is to solve problems, and Design Thinking is an approach that helps find solutions that people truly want, that actually work, and that make financial sense.
My favorite part is applying Design Thinking to my own startup called CliqueShoppa. It's something that people would like to use and can be created, but the challenge is figuring out how to make it profitable.
The Design Thinking process involves several steps that are effective, such as understanding the problem, observing the situation, defining the viewpoint, generating ideas, creating prototypes, and testing them. Right now, I'm still in the early phase of understanding and observing, which is completely normal and part of the process.
One of my coaches told me to think of something that "acts like," "looks like," or "works like" a solution to the problem I'm trying to solve.
I wish I could share more, but it might be too much information for now! ๐
I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn this skill and apply it to my daily life. Semicolon is an organization that aims to transform individuals, industries, and communities in Africa by encouraging problem-solving through talent, technology, and innovation.
They're creating a strong community of confident, intelligent, and adventurous women in the tech field. I'm proud to be a part of it.
I am a proud native. ๐ฅฐ
